VerbaleOffline meeting notes app for Android
Verbale is an Android app that records a meeting and writes the transcript, speakers and minutes on the phone itself. After a one-time download of its speech models it needs no signal at all.
For the longer walk-through, read the step-by-step guide to offline meeting notes on Android.
How it works
- Install Verbale and let it finish its one-time download while you are online.
- Tap record at the start of the meeting and put the phone down; it keeps going with the screen off, in other apps and in a small floating window.
- When you stop, the transcript, speakers and minutes are written on the phone, and it notifies you when a long meeting is ready.
What you get
- Free, forever, no account: 5 meetings a month, up to 1 hour each, with the transcript by speaker, decisions, action items and open questions, search for every word, and copy for any write-up.
- Pro, with a 7-day free trial through Google Play: unlimited meetings of any length, export to PDF, Markdown, text, SRT subtitles and MP3, and a summary and minutes written up in plain English.
- Notes you have already made stay readable if you stop paying.
Privacy
Recordings, transcripts and minutes are made on your phone and never uploaded. The free tier needs no account. The app uses the network for only three things: a one-time download of its speech models, checking a subscription, and opt-in crash reports that never carry content. It has a screen that counts every network call it makes.
Questions
Does it really work with no signal?
Yes. Once the one-time download of its speech models is done, recording, the transcript and the minutes all happen on the phone.
What does it still need the internet for?
The one-time model download, the subscription check for Pro, and opt-in crash reports that never carry content. Sending your notes to someone needs a connection too, as it would for any app.
Which phones can run it?
Android phones with a 64-bit processor. There is no iPhone version. Some Pro features need 4 GB of memory, and the app checks your phone first.
Is it free?
The free tier is free forever with no account: 5 meetings a month, up to 1 hour each. Pro is ₹300 a month or ₹2,500 a year in India; other countries see their local price in Google Play.
